Reference Style Guide: APA 6th Edition

The conference requires all submissions to adhere strictly to the American Psychological Association (APA) 6th Edition style for in-text citations and references.

In-Text Citation (Author-Date Style)

Citations must include the author's last name and year of publication. For direct quotes, page numbers are mandatory (e.g., Smith, 2025, p. 15).

• One Author: (Smith, 2023)
• Two Authors: (Ahmed & Salah, 2026)
• Three to Five Authors (First Citation): (Saad, Majid, & Youssef, 2023). Subsequent citations: (Saad et al., 2024).
• Six or More Authors: (Ahmed et al., 2023).

Reference List Formatting

1. Journal Articles: Journal title must be italicized. Capitalize only the first word of the article title and proper nouns. Volume number is italicized; issue number is in parentheses (not italicized).
2. Electronic Articles: Include the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) if available. For internet articles, include the full URL.
3. Books: Author, A. A., Author, B. B. (Year). Title of Book: Subtitle (Edition if not first). Location: Publisher.
4. Chapter in an Edited Book: The book title is italicized, but the chapter title is not. For online edited books, include the DOI or retrieval link instead of publisher location.
5. Unpublished Thesis/Dissertation: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of Thesis: Subtitle (Unpublished doctoral dissertation or master’s thesis). University Name, Location.
6. Published Thesis/Dissertation from Database: Thesis title is italicized. Include the type of thesis in parentheses and the database name/accession number if retrieved from a database.

Tables and Figures Formatting

• Tables: Numbered sequentially (Table 1, Table 2...). Title placed directly above the table, clearly visible. Use minimal vertical lines (Vertical lines) and rely on horizontal lines to divide sections. Align text within cells based on data type (numbers right/center, text left).
• Figures: Numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2...). Title placed directly below the figure. If colored, ensure high contrast for black and white printing. Sections must be labeled with units of measurement.
